There is no universe in which this update was supposed to get this big. And yet, like a neglected fridge in a college apartment, we finally opened the door and decided to throw everything out and start over. What you are about to read is less a changelog and more a full-on renovation.

Merry Christmas, you miserable little gremlins! PorkyProductions is proud (and slightly ashamed that it took this long) to deliver (de)Motivator v13 — a massive, modernized, swept-clean-from-top-to-bottom release that fundamentally rethinks how the app looks, feels, runs, and insults you. This update is about speed, polish, consistency, and of course, finding brand new ways to hurt your feelings.

New Features:

Section titled “New Features:”
  • Over 300 new insults: (de)Motivator.js has been busy. We dramatically expanded the insult library so your daily dose of demoralization never gets stale. Creative, brutal, and lovingly handcrafted.
  • Insults take center stage: A brand-new slideover pane now displays insults in a large, highly readable format. No distractions. Just you and the abuse.
  • Profane insults button on the main page: One click. No hesitation. Straight to the worst of the worst.
  • Revamped List page: Now with modern styling, pagination, the ability to favorite insults, and significantly more customization.
  • Completely redesigned Account page: Cleaner layout, improved functionality, and a modern feel.
  • New 404 experience: You got lost. We made it entertaining. Includes brand-new Easter eggs for the curious and the bored.
  • Unified PorkyProductions accounts: We have officially moved away from legacy (de)Motivator accounts. All users are now on PorkyProductions accounts, automatically migrated for a seamless experience across all PorkyProductions apps and services.

Major Changes:

Section titled “Major Changes:”
  • Full upgrade to Svelte 5 (Runes included): The app is now built on the latest Svelte architecture, unlocking better performance, cleaner state management, and a much more future-proof codebase.
  • Migration to Tailwind CSS v4: Faster builds, modern utilities, and a cleaner styling workflow across the entire app.
  • Complete UI/UX rewrite: The main page, account pages, list views, footer, and basically everything else received a fresh coat of paint. The app now emphasizes a modern, streamlined, and consistent design from top to bottom.
  • Unified color system: The iconic (de)Motivator Majorelle Blue is now used everywhere — light mode, dark mode, no exceptions.
  • MEGAMODE fixed: The slider now acts as a true throttle. All the way right delivers insults at a blistering 1 insult per millisecond; all the way left slows things down to one insult every 2 seconds. Chaos, but controlled.
  • Security and dependency updates: All packages are now up to date, with automated Dependabot updates to keep things secure and boring (the good kind of boring).
  • README rewrite: The documentation now actually reflects what the app is, what it does, and how it works in its current form.

Performance & Cleanup:

Section titled “Performance & Cleanup:”
  • Capacitor apps removed: The iOS and Android versions of (de)Motivator are officially deprecated. Capacitor packages were removed everywhere, and native web APIs are now used directly for improved performance.
  • “Taking out the trash”: Redundant files deleted, dead code removed, builds sped up, and the repo generally put on a diet. The app is leaner, faster, and easier to maintain.

Removed:

Section titled “Removed:”
  • (de)Motivator iOS and Android apps: Deprecated alongside the removal of Capacitor. The web app is now the primary and best experience.
  • Legacy account system remnants: Anything tied to the old (de)Motivator account model is gone, buried, and not coming back.

This release is a reset — technically, visually, and philosophically. Everything is faster, cleaner, more consistent, and more aggressively insulting than ever before. We hope you enjoy the new look, the new speed, and the overwhelming sense that this app has finally grown up… just enough to insult you more efficiently.
