Secrets & Easter Eggs

(de)Motivator has a few hidden surprises tucked away for curious users. Here’s what we’re willing to reveal (and what we’ll leave for you to discover).

The hedgehog is PorkyProductions’ mascot (based off the real life Porky the Hedgehog owned by Tristan!) — you’ll spot it in the footer, on login pages, and elsewhere around the app. But it has a bigger role than just decoration.

There’s a hidden hedgehog page somewhere in the app. Finding it unlocks the Hog Hunter 🦔 achievement and rewards you with a chaotic, animated surprise. We won’t tell you exactly how to get there, but pay close attention to interactive elements on pages you might not normally click around on.

Hint: some things become interesting if you’re persistent enough.

The hedgehog icon in the footer isn’t just sitting there. Try interacting with it — press and hold (or click and hold) to watch it react. The longer you hold, the more dramatic the effect gets.

Most apps have a boring 404 error page. (de)Motivator’s is… different.

If you navigate to a page that doesn’t exist, you’ll land on a custom 404 page with a Story Mode. Hit the start button and watch an automated, dramatically-paced narrative unfold — complete with confetti, emoticons, and a surprisingly theatrical telling of what went wrong. You can pause, skip forward, or restart the story at any point.

It’s worth visiting at least once. Try going to demotivator.web.app/this-does-not-exist to see it in action.

The app supports dark mode automatically based on your system preferences. There’s no manual toggle — it follows whatever your device or browser is set to.

Accessible from the navigation bar as v1.0, this is the original version of the app preserved exactly as it was when it was first created. It’s a single HTML file — no frameworks, no build tools, no accounts — just a button and some insults. Think of it as a museum exhibit. It’s read-only and will never be updated.
